    Let me tell you, turning sixty is a sobering experience. I thought it would be fifty. But the fifties were rather uneventful if you exclude certain one-off events like filling your basement with oil.

    No.

    It is the sixties that got my anxiety machine out of first gear. There are two thoughts that occupy my mind. What will I leave behind? and Can I still invent something that can make me rich and comfortable till the end?

    I was dwelling on this morbidity on an out of town trip yesterday... all the way up and all the way back, about four hours in total. I passed by an abandoned mill in New Ipswich... something that I had seen many years ago.... and my thoughts went something like: there was a time when the force of gravity and the behavior of water created a way of life for generations..... or some such maudlin thought. Today, the water and gravity are still there, but the production of whatever it was they made is silent, the magnificent building is the monument to that time. (It is also a little incongruous: a huge brick edifice in the middle of the woods). At such times, you think of new paradigms, that there has GOT to be a better way of thinking about things.

    This morning, it came to me in a flash (actually, after several tries and many failures). Here is my legacy, the emoticon pole dancer:
